In just under two months on September 20, 2019 something may happen in a relatively deserted but surreptitiously militarized part of the state of Nevada… or nothing at all. Unless you’ve been living under a social media rock, you’ve probably heard about the upcoming raid on Area 51. According to “Shitposting cause im in shambles” the Facebook event details consist of the following:
We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry. If we naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Lets see them aliens.
The remainder of the description directs us to an obviously hastily assembled website which shills loosely affiliated products.
There you have it. With this call to action, which has gone viral and nearly two million people confirmed as “going”, we are introduced to how ill-informed, neutered, and incapable Americans are at holding the United States government and the armed forces accountable to the National Interest today. My regret is that the possible visitation of planet Earth by extraterrestrials of any kind for almost any purpose would constitute the most significant thing to happen to humanity - maybe ever.
And how do we achieve sufficient social awareness and reach to get Americans motivated and talking about the need for this level of disclosure about The Big Question? By Facebook event (of course!) targeting scarcely known and relatively unfounded rumors about Area 51 and bypass the on-site military and security forces via “naruto run... faster than their bullets.” Given the level of response with 1.9 million “going” and 1.4 million “interested” what seems like an innocuous joke has obviously tapped into a multi-generational outcry for transparency from the government and the military to disclose information it’s suspected to have about this issue.
Wait! You’re assuming aliens exist, they’ve visited us, and the government and/or military knows about it.
Yes, I’m making those assumptions. But I’m making them based on the available information.
Consider holistically this sampler of both deductive and inductive supporting details:
- From a recent Statista article quoting the National UFO Reporting Center, there have been more than 2,371 reported UFO sightings in 2019 in the United States alone.
- Archived government documents with evidence or testimony about UFO investigations are riddled with redacted information.
- The United States Air Force spent countless man hours and American tax dollars officially investigating UFOs for decades. From 1947 (the same year as the Roswell incident) - 1969 the Air Force investigated 12,618 UFO sightings. 701 of those sightings were classified as “unidentified” and unexplained.
- Many vocal UFOlogists and researchers such as Dr. Steven M. Greer, Stanton T. Friedman, and Bob Lazar do not draw profit from delivering this information to the public and/or their lives have been altered negatively after delivering these messages and data to the public.
I could go on page after page with information like this. Many researchers have. I’m not here to convince you about the alien issue though. Interestingly, according to a recent Newsweek article citing a YouGov poll, if you’re American and you don’t believe aliens exist… you’re in the minority.
Recently in hallway conversations at the office, there was quite a lot of poking fun at the Area 51 raid in September and that the military will “take care of” or shoot any trespassers. I’m here to remind us that the military of the United States is accountable and beholden to its citizenry. According to the Constitution, the President is Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces because the country adopted the doctrine of civilian control of the military. The United States is not a military oligarchy.
If a large assembly of Americans march onto an American military base with basically peaceful intentions inquiring about evidence of alien life, spacecraft, or visitations - as in the case of this Area 51 raid - I think the civilian government should intervene, order the military to either comply or step aside. The military has no framework for attacking or physically repelling peaceful citizens asking for answers in this situation. This situation represents a public dissatisfaction with answers the government has given regarding UFOs and extraterrestrials that has an outlet in the secrecy surrounding Area 51. I also find it funny that if you happen to subscribe to the theory that information about extraterrestrials or UFOs are closely guarded military secrets and that the military keeps the civilian government at bay on this issue, this situation offers our civilian government a way out! They can publicly order the military to disclose and stand down.
The subject of extraterrestrial life visiting Earth is a matter for the entire human race to process, discuss, and determine a course of action. It’s not a unique or exclusive concern to the United States.
Finally, to my friends in the military I would say this to you about the Area 51 raid: hide your classified new jet planes, secret teleporters, and ray guns and be good Americans by answering the people on that day and disclose what you know about extraterrestrials. If you hurt people who just want answers, history will not be kind to you.
